The support has been great this academic year; having the same notetaker for quite a few sessions has been especially beneficial. However, I appreciate that it doesn’t always work out that way due to availability.

Jack has been brilliant, and his notes captured everything that was going on in the lecture and the group sessions. I always struggle with group tasks because it’s hard to follow what is being said, particularly when there are multiple voices and cultures in the room, but his notes have made it easier because he’d noted down everything that was said.

Aside from that, I don’t have any criticisms. Cosmic has provided me with support when I’ve needed it, so thank you.

That said, I’m not finished with Cosmic yet. I still have some tutorials to get out of the way before exams! :)

The reason I am getting in touch today is just to express how incredibly happy and grateful I am for all the amazing help I’ve received from Christopher. I struggle with anxiety and Christopher does an amazing job at making me feel so comfortable and at ease, not to mention the great advice and support he has provided me with. I genuinely do not think I could have achieved this much in my course in this short time, if it was not for his fantastic help. Working with you has been a truly touching experience. My autism prevents me from exaggerating or making definitive statements that I don’t believe in, so understand that everything I say is from the heart.

Over the course of our sessions, significant takeaways were that I was able to feel seen, respected and encouraged. Lynne has been a fantastic tutor to work with throughout my time as an Undergraduate Student at Coventry University. I have really appreciated all the efficient help and academic advice, which has enabled me to make successful progression during and throughout the course of my studies (be it for assignment and revision purposes in preparation for examinations, as well as covering all different aspects relating to my course). As a result of this, I’m currently on track to achieve a 1st Class Honours Degree.

The termly review and use of an ILP (Individual Learning Plan) certainly helped in this regard, ensuring I was staying on-track, and meeting both my short and long-term goals. Without her expertise and sufficient guidance, I don’t believe this result would have been strictly possible. Having sessions that were delivered remotely via Skype had been very convenient, and ensured all the allocated slots for our sessions were being used effectively, making it somewhat productive. Lynne’s response time was excellent if there was any queries which I had or required re-scheduling for any appointments. The whole experience has been an absolute pleasure and memorable, for which I’ll remain very grateful for.

I have had academic mentors and support before but what truly set my mentor apart was their genuine care for my well-being. She consistently went above and beyond her duty by providing emotional support during stressful periods. Whenever doubts or insecurities crept in and things became incredibly tough, she was always there to offer words of encouragement and reassurance. She was there for me during the toughest times of my life over the past two years.

Their dedication extended beyond our scheduled meetings; they were always available via email to address any concerns or queries promptly. I was uncertain when you offered me virtual sessions in January 2020, however that has been an advantage for me as when we went into lockdown, I carried on accessing the support virtually. She is an excellent specialist tutor, who has provided me with high level of support which has prepared, educated, and developed me into a confident student. She understood my learning needs, strength and weaknesses and she ensured the support offered would allow me to achieve my goals and outcomes. As you know it was a real struggle to find someone that Ben felt comfortable with and vitally who was able to understand what Ben needed. Then Ben got Anna who absolutely understood Ben and what he needed and from the very first session he was happy. Other Support teachers follow the tried and tested route which they, I assume, have been taught and failed to listen and understand what the individual student actually needs and wants from the support. Anna does not do this and that is the difference. There is nothing more Ben or I could have asked for from Anna. She unfailingly supported Ben and in addition saw him at a time and on a day that worked for him which was a massive help.

In addition to her support of Ben she also happily took the time to liaise with me should I need it, which I am sure is over and above her role. I asked Ben what he wanted me to say to you about Anna and he said “She’s brilliant”.

I would not hesitate to recommend Anna to anyone who needed support – she is great.

rom the start I found our sessions professional, structured, and educational. Every session had a clear defined plan of what we wanted to achieve as well as identifying goals for the next session. I feel we have built rapport, getting to know how each other works and collaboratively plan how to conduct our sessions. I have found our sessions productive, informative, and beneficial allowing me to develop my academic writing skills and moving towards a much more critical writing voice. This has led to significant improvements in my overall grades.
